Kara

I forgot to mention earlier that Kara is my loyal pup who sticks with me on all of my hiking and climbing adventures. She will be joining me on my hike for most of the way, however there are some locations along the way where dogs are prohibited and she will be temporarily sent home at these locations. Also, a good friend of mine, Tyler Baughman, is planning on completing the thru hike with me as well. Tyler and I have been planning this hike for at least three years, and this is what I daydreamed about while finishing up my college career.

New Blog

Hey everyone,

In anticipation of my upcoming thru hike I have decided to make a blog so everyone can keep up with me and my adventures on the Appalachian Trail. Below is some more info on my upcoming plans as I prepare for the big adventure, as well as some basic information about the AT for those who aren't very familiar.

Hiking Info:
Direction of travel- Northbound
Anticipated start date- Mid March
Anticipated end date- ~September
Total miles- 2,184 (varies slightly year to year)
Starting point- Officially the trail starts at Springer Mtn (Fannin Co., Ga) but there is an 8 mile approach trail that I plan on taking, which starts at Amicalola Falls State park (not included in total mileage).
End point- Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine

While I'm on the trail, I will rarely have access to update the blog. My plan is to hand write blog posts and mail them back home, where my sister Taylor will help me add them to the site. This means there will likely be a delay and I will be a week or so farther along. If I get a chance to post myself, I will initial the end of the blog to let you all know that it is up-to-date. Thanks for following, and check back in closer to March to catch me as I begin my journey!
